Creativity and Other Non Sequiturs

Creativity can be sort of a tough thing. This may simply be a personal issue I'm projecting into a generalization, but creativity can be a touchy state. There's a lot that can hinder the creative process; stress, workload, personal issues, life in general. Of course there are certainly creatives who thrive in just such environments. Personally, I find time management to be extremely helpful, including budgeting personal time. By personal time I mean time spent not working on stuff that needs to get done, time spend reading, free-writing, meditating, whatever. For filmmakers such as ourselves this could be making some music, drawing, basically not working on movies in order to keep from becoming jaded on the process. Just taking time for a little self-reflection and doing something you like, no matter how much work is stacking up. Refocus, re-energize.

Case in point; I'm currently working on a Robot gallery which will go up in November. Its something creative that I can work on when I need a break from making those movies.

I'm using recycled materials, aside from ink and Elmer's glue, and maybe some rivets. But anyway, FACT: Robot will be making a gallery appearance here in Portland, I'll keep you posted as we get closer!
